Alternative Options For Households
It’s important to know what your options are for disposal of rubbish, as you don’t always need a skip. For example, you can arrange for the council to collect large items from the kerbside outside your home. On this page, you can find details of this service, plus the locations of, and how to contact, your local council funded Household Waste Recyling Centres.
Doncaster Council Collections
The council will collect larger items for you, in recognition of the fact that it can be difficult to transport them to the nearest Recycle Centre. The fee is £25.00 (correct at September 2014), although those on benefits my be able to use the service for a reduced rate of £8.00.
Items must be left outdoors, ideally near the boundary of your property, in an easily accessible location (don’t lock the gates!) to be collected. There are some items that you can’t dispose of in this way, in a similar way to the items and materials banned from skips. You can find an up to date list of the items that the council will not collect as part of their bulky items collection service on their website here.
Household Waste Recycling Centres
If you are able to transport the rubbish yourself in a safe manner, it may be cheaper and more convenient to do so, by taking it to your local tip. As the name implies, it’s not available for business waste, but does mean that households can use it at their own convenience, rather than being tied to the collection time provided by the council, and will probably be cheaper than hiring from us.
